Developing Internet Activities

 Project 6: Multimedia Scrapbook

(Note: All assignments that must be turned in are in green. Your answers do NOT have to be publishable in a professional journal. Write only what is needed to answer the questions. You will NOT be graded on your English. Remember, NO ONE is perfect...not even me. Send all assignments to: JoAnn Miller (miller@netservice.com.mx). You can begin the next assignment before you get your feedback. You may be asked to rewrite something, but you cannot FAIL this course.)

(1) Visit the Filimentality site again. Check out this introduction  which should help you as you do your first activity. Bookmark it so you can find it again later if you have any questions.

(2)  Follow the Multimedia Scrapbook link

(3) Read about these activities and then visit the example site (Democracy on-line in America Today).
Look around and think about what is involved in this type of activity. Write a brief critique of this kind of activity. What did you like? What didn’t you like? (Send the answers to me.)
Visit a UVM activity designed for North Star Basic, Unit 5.
These activities take time to prepare, but can serve as projects. They could be used in Prepa/Bachillerato or with Licenciatura projects IF the teacher were careful enough to relate the activity to the Course Theme. In fact, students can develop one of these activities in Filimentality as a project for Prepa/Bachillerato and even in Licenciatura (Courses 1 – 3).

(4) Now write a similar activity. (You can just go blind if you are very adventuresome or check out Hint for Scrapbook . It's a step-by-step guide.
Design the activity specifically for a particular course (book and unit). If possible, do it for a course  you are now teaching. Submit it to Filimentality so it will be put on the web (It’s easy—Just go to the Start a New Topic link at the bottom of the page and fill out the information as you go. Remember, have your links prepared before you start.).
If you are teaching the course now (preferable), use it in the class.
Send me a report of the activity and a critique of student response and any problems you might have had.
Include the following information:
                   Site link.
(It will be something like this: http://www.kn.pacbell.com/wired/fil/pages/listfieldwojo.html )
Course, Book, Unit, Topic  (For example, Licenciatura, Course 4, Atlas, Book 3, Unit 4, Archaeology)
If you used it in class, include a report of how you used it, how it went and a critique of student
responses and any problems. Also let me know if you had to rewrite it after using it.
If you couldn't use it in class, how would you use it?

(5) Briefly tell me what other ways you think you could use Scrapbooks in class--either as teacher-made or as student-made activities.
Check out the Students' Pages for more ideas...
