UVM In-Service English Training Courses

Developing Internet Activities

Introduction

Requisites: Participants must enjoy using computers and the Internet and be able to spend quite a lot of time on the computer, surfing around and developing materials. Participants do NOT have to be computer experts, but have to be willing to learn and not afraid to move the mouse. They also must have an e-mail address in order to communicate with the teacher, JoAnn Miller. All assignments and any questions should be sent to miller@netservice.com.mx .

General Introduction:
More and more the Internet is becoming an invaluable tool for use in class. It can't replace the teacher, but a good, creative teacher can use the Internet to make classes more interesting and to motivate students with activities that go beyond the textbook.

This course consists of 10 different projects and is designed to help UVM teachers learn how to take advantage of the resources the Internet has to offer. Teachers will be awarded a certificate on completion of the 30-hour course. There is no time limit for completion and it's impossible to fail. At the most you will be asked to rewrite a portion of a project. You complete a project and send it in by e-mail. You can begin working on the next project even before you receive comments from the coordinator. Please do the projects in order. They are organized from easiest to most advanced.  Teachers will also be awarded points for each activity they develop which is later incorporated into the Students' Webpage.
